PAST EXHIBITIONS
SHIFT
This exhibition showcases 20 contemporary tapestries by members of Tapestry Weavers West focused on the dramatic shifts in our daily lives in recent years. Shift: to change position, direction, place or form. To be altered as part of systemic historical change. In our tumultuous world, the ground seems to be constantly shifting under our feet. How do we shift in response to world events? How do we see the world shifting around us? What has shifted in our lives? How do we seek balance? The show was juried by Christine Koppes, Curator at the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) San Francisco opening in 2022 and formerly the Curator and Director of Public Programs at the ICA San Jose. More IMPACT: Climate Change
This exhibition features tapestries from members of Tapestry Weavers West and reflects concern about our changing global environment and the detrimental consequences of climate change. These contemporary tapestries are woven in a variety of techniques and styles. But whether traditional or experimental, abstract or representational, they reflect the anxiety of this topic. Twenty-nine thought-provoking tapestries were selected for this special exhibition by curators Deborah Corsini and Alex Friedman, both Tapestry Weavers West weavers/artists.
